Tizer Review

Whilst on a recent day-trip back to a former hometown of mine, I happened to stop in at a shop specializing in goods – mostly edible – from the British Isles. I wasn’t especially inclined to get anything until, in the cooler, I saw a brightly colored can of soda – a soda I’d never had before, and didn’t even know existed.

For $1.50 (though rather more than the native price of 49p; at present exchange rate that would be about 63¢), on a hot summer day as this was, the prospect was too tempting to resist. I bought a can and drank whiles sitting outside in the shade. The result is this review. From A.G. Barr plc, it’s the Great British Pop, Tizer!

Pepsi 1893 Review – All Four Flavors

Truth be told, I’m not a Pepsi man. I’m not even really a cola man; I prefer a good Pepper-style soda or ginger ale most of the time. And when it comes to the major colas, I frankly think Coca-Cola is superior.

But when Pepsi put out their “1893” line of experimental sodas, I was intrigued. I meant to try the first two flavors (Original and Ginger) some time ago, but that was around the time I cut back my soda intake significantly and I ended up never having any. But recently, noting the release of two additional flavors (Citrus and Black Currant), I resolved to try all four and write them up.

So here are the four members of the Pepsi 1893 roster. Let’s see if Pepsi bests Coke at branching out into the craft-soda market.

Original New York Seltzer Cola & Berry

I’ll proceed with caution regarding ONYS’ other flavors, but at least I know they have one flavor I can savor.

Here’s hoping I can track down Cola & Berry. That seems like their most interesting flavor.

So I said when reviewing ONYS’ Peach flavor. Imagine my delight when, a few months later, I happened upon several bottles of Cola & Berry in a World Market. I bought it and drank it promptly, recording my impressions as I did so. Apologies for not writing up my thoughts sooner, but I simply never got around to it.

The following review is as verbatim from my notes as possible, so I apologize if the review is a bit rough around the edges.

IKEA Dryck Påskmust Review

Been a minute since my last soda review, but I was at IKEA the other day and saw this Easter-themed drink for sale. Given the enduring popularity of my Julmust review, I knew I had to review this mysterious new drink as well. So, come with me as I brave the uncharted waters of Dryck Påskmust!

Crystal Pepsi Review

In 1992, Crystal Pepsi came onto the scene, and despite heavy promotion was gone by 1994, having taken its place alongside New Coke as a failed attempt at shaking up the entrenched American soda paradigm. However, just as Surge was brought back from the dead, so, to my surprise, has Crystal Pepsi been given a new lease on life.

You know I’ve got to give it a shot. I missed it the first time around (that I can remember). I’m not making that mistake again. I’ll be honest, I’m not a Pepsi fan – I’m definitely on the Coke side of the eternal cola dichotomy – but no matter.

Fest Satsuma Mint Review

After a superior experience with their Bourbon Cream Soda, I opted to seek out more sodas from Fest, and decided I would go for their oddest flavor next: Satsuma Mint.

The satsuma is a citrus fruit, closely related to the mandarin orange and tangerine, and extremely popular in the South–making it a reasonable choice for the New Orleans-based Fest.

As for the inclusion of mint, well, we’ll just have to see how it tastes.
